To ensure that all students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum;
- To provide a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the individual’s needs and ability;
- To ensure that students’ special educational needs are identified as early in their school career as possible;
- To ensure that provision is made for meeting learners’ SEN and that this is regularly reviewed;
- To involve learners in planning to meet their SEN;
- To ensure that students are entered on the SEN register according to objective criteria;
- To ensure that all parents/carers are informed about their child’s SEN and are involved as partners;
- To ensure that all staff are aware of and actively respond to learners’ SEN;
- To ensure that all staff receive training to develop awareness of SEN and effective skills to meet a range of needs.

We recognise that many students will have special needs at some time during their Academy life. In developing and implementing this policy, we believe that these students can and should be supported to face and overcome these challenges.
