Charity Update: Non-Uniform Day (19/12/18) and Community Fridge
Dear Parents and Carers,
There will be a non-school-uniform day for all pupils on Wednesday 19th December in order to raise supplies for the Ormiston Victory Academy Community Fridge and for Sugar for Shelters.
The Community Fridge is a resource available to everyone in the surrounding area – with it we can help combat food waste and ensure that anyone who needs supplies can get them when they need them. Located by the main gates of the academy, the Community Fridge needs your support to help get it off the ground!
Instead of asking for the usual non-uniform day cash donation, we will be asking every student who comes in regular clothes to bring in something to help stock our fridge. Students who wish to wear onesies or extravagant festive gear are encouraged to do so, but we would kindly ask that in addition to donating food for the Community fridge, they also bring in a bag for Sugar for Shelters, run by the Buckingham Emergency Food Appeal.
The Community Fridge would accept any and all of the following gratefully:
- Tins of beans
- Tinned meat
- Tinned potatoes
- Toiletries such as toilet paper and toothpaste
- Milk (especially UHT milk)
Please ensure that all supplies given are sealed as unfortunately at this time we cannot accept open packs of anything.
Please feel free to come and look at the fridge whenever you would like! It will be opening after Christmas every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 2pm. We encourage all of our families to share this information with anyone they feel would benefit from it.
After the holidays, we will also be running a charity drive to collect any unwanted toiletries and hygiene products for local charities – please bear us in mind if you receive anything extra over the festive period.
With all our thanks and wishes for a joyous holiday,
The Ormiston Victory Academy Charity Committee
