Overall, 62% of students at the academy achieved at least a Grade 4 or higher in both English and maths, and 43% of students achiever the higher Grade 5 – defined by the Government as a “strong pass”. This was a further increase of three percentage points on last year’s figure.

Students at the academy excelled in a range of subjects, with 63% of all students in the Year 11 cohort also managed to achieve at least one of the top grade (Grade 9-7, A-A, Distinction).

In the traditional academic subjects, results at Grade 5 or above were particularly strong, with 60% of students in English Literature gaining a Grades 5 or above, 58% in Spanish; 43% in Computing; 52% in Mathematics and 90% in Biology. In vocational subjects, 67% of students gained an A* or A in Business Studies, 73% in BTEC Sport and 100% in Performing Arts.

Amongst the individual success stories included:

Shahd Abdelrahman, this year’s winner of the prestigious Gresham’s School OAT scholarship for Sixth Form, achieved Grade 9 in a stunning range of 7 subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Literature, French, Geography, Mathematics, Physics. She also achieved A* in Arabic; Distinction* in Business; A* in IFS and Grade 8 in German. Shahd plans to follow a prestigious career in medicine.

Jacob Edwards, an accomplished performer and songwriter, achieved the equivalent of 10 Grade 7-9s, including Grade 9s in English Literature, German and Mathematics.

Reflective of this year’s strong results, the academy’s Progress 8 score estimates are anticipated to be positive – with an estimate that all children, on average, have made good progress in line with expectations.

Principal of Ormiston Victory Academy, Naomi Palmer, said:

“We are thrilled to celebrate another fantastic set of results with our students today – I am so proud of what they have achieved across such a wide range of subjects. On behalf of the Victory staff and the Board of Governors, we are delighted for our hard-working and talented young people – they have been so well supported by their families, their peers and their teachers.”
