All colleges were out to beat the reigning champions Endeavour in over 80 different events that took place on the day. There was a great atmosphere in the morning with all of the field events happening inside the track while the longer distance races were taking place on the track.

When the upper school arrived, the competition heated up with the start of the relays, not even the wet weather could dampen our pupils’ spirits.  The most anticipated events of the day are always the Super Staff versus Y10, Mixed Staff and Male Staff relays.  There were some exceptional performances from the staff and pupils and it was great to see some of our Year 11 pupils return to compete.  The sixth form supported the younger students by getting involved and participating in a number of events.

All of the pupils’ hard work in PE lessons and clubs paid off with an impressive number of school records being broken.   A total of 26 official new records were set and 37 results from our 2012 Sports Day were beaten.  This shows the outstanding development of our pupils and has set the bar even higher for next year.

It was pleasing to see so many of the events fully participated in and so many students and staff enjoying the atmosphere of the day. The overall ethos of the day was ‘it’s the taking part that counts’ and that was proved to be true by the outcome of the day.

The overall winning college was not the college with the most events won but the college who filled all the events and gained those extra few important points for taking part.  Congratulations to Courage College who gained this year’s 1st place with a total of 1012 points, another record college total.

Feedback from all of the staff and students has been really positive, particularly the use of the excellent facilities at the UEA. Well done to all of the students and staff who participated in events. Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to all those who helped to ensure the day was a great success.  A truly memorable Sport occasion.

Already looking forward to Victory’s 4th Annual Sports Day.
