2nd Annual Sports Day, 29th June 2012

The day began with checking of college teams byh Form Tutor Captains, then all Victory staff and students congregated on the field to watch the opening ceremony perfomance by some Year 7 A,G&T students.

All colleges were out to beat the reigning champions, Courage, in the 72 different events that took place on the day.  There was a great atmosphere in the morning with all the field events happening around the field while the longer distance races were taking place on the track.

The afternoon session was highly competitive and lots of cheering could be heard from all students supporting their college relay teams. The most anticipated events of the day are always the super staff versus Y10 and all staff relays. The particular highlight was when Louis Locke in Y10 came from behind in the final leg of the relay to beat Mr Ball in the final stages of the race! This result was one of the fantastic 31 records broken against last year’s winning results.

It was pleasing to see so many of the events fully participated in, and so many students and staff enjoying the atmosphere of the day.The overall ethos of the day is ‘it’s the taking part that counts’, and that was proven to be true by the outcome of the day.

The overall winning college was not the college with the most events won, it was the college who filled all the events and gained those extra few important points for taking part. Congratuations to Endeavour college who gained this year’s 1st place by just 19 points with a total of 879 points.
