Working in conjunction with the University of East Anglia (UEA) we are delighted to offer School Direct placements. Successful completion of this Teacher Training Programme will lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), as well as Masters Credits.
Ormiston Venture Academy is the lead school for our School Direct places. Whist applications will be made through the Lead School; places are available specifically in Ormiston Victory Academy. We will take responsibility for the training aspect of the programme – though some elements will be shared across the Partnership.
Secondary places are available in the following:
Science (School Direct training UEA)
We welcome applications from any candidate who seeks to put students first and improve the life chances of young people. A passion for your subject and an ability to reflect on recent experience within the British education system should also be reflected in any application. These guidelines are deliberately vague as we will consider the individual merits of each and every application in an effort to recruit the next generation of outstanding teachers.
Applications are made through UCAS Teacher Training (www.ucas.com/how_it_all_works/teacher-training)
Please note that when applying through UCAS you will be applying through Ormiston Venture Academy, check to make sure the campus location is Ormiston Victory Academy. For example:

Use your personal statement to tell us why you wish to become a teacher and why you wish to teach your subject. You should also tell us about your experience within schools and what insights you have gained into high quality teaching and learning in your subject. You should refer to any reading you have undertaken to prepare for a career in teaching indicating what you have learned from this. If you already have links with a supporting school, please include this within your statement.
Expectations of Trainees
Trainees on all courses leading to qualified teacher status must meet the requirements for professional values and practice set out in the national standards. This includes high standards of dress and behaviour. We will treat trainees in the same way as all members of staff. Trainees will be expected to attend for the full period of the course and to observe the same standards of punctuality as teachers. Prospective applicants who are unclear about the professional expectations of teachers should seek opportunities to spend time in schools before applying.
The UEA has child care facilities which can be used by School Direct trainees when they are studying on the university site as part of their program.
All schools have disability access.
The School Direct partnership does not provide any accommodation for trainee teachers. However, house prices in the area are reasonable and there is a good range of rental accommodation available at reasonable rates.
Where to Find Us
Ormiston Victory Academy is located in Costessey, Norwich, Norfolk. Full directions to the UEA can be found on their website.
