Enrichment Clubs

Art Club is offered to all students in Years 7-10. It gives students the opportunity to explore their own artistic impulses and materials, processes and ways of working with independence and confidence. All of the resources of the art department are available to students, giving them the chance to develop their own interests outside of the regular curriculum.

Badminton Club runs in the mornings and once a week afterschool from September to Easter. It is an opportunity for students who enjoy badminton within their PE lessons to develop their playing skills and knowledge of the rules further through playing and umpiring. The club is open to all years and we have academy badminton teams for Years 7-10 entered into the local Norwich leagues to give our students the opportunity to experience playing competitive games against students from other schools. Students who attend the club can trial to be selected to represent the academy teams.

This is our Boys’ only company (sorry girls!). We study every style of dance you can imagine, but also focus on fitness and strength. Our goal is to improve technique and stamina. This is an after school dance club open to all students but aimed at those who do not have a huge amount of dance experience.

Commercial is a mix between street and Jazz and is super sassy! Although this class is aimed largely at our female students, we operate a fully inclusive policy in Performing Arts and any boys who wish to come along are more than welcome!

Drama club is a great place to develop your skills, to build your confidence in front of supportive like-minded students and to just have loads of fun! As a member of the Drama club, you can expect plenty of performance opportunities. This year, our drama club members got to perform extracts of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Norwich Playhouse and were treated to a complimentary professional lighting workshop as part of this project. Last year they took part in an Ormiston Victory Facade showcase, performing their devised pieces. They also went to The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich and took part in the Shakespeare Festival.

Facade Singers is for older students and audition-based. We try to challenge ourselves with the songs we sing as we make friends while we make music.

Greenpower Kit Car Club is aimed at anyone from Years 7-11 who is interested in engines. The sessions will aim to cover the basic theory of engine components and how they work together. Students will also have the opportunity to investigate an engine themselves and learn how to use basic workshop tools and techniques. The sessions are taught by car and motorcycle fanatic Mr Grimes.

Golf Club takes place at Bawburgh Golf Club where we have built club links with our local Golf Centre. Students attend a block of sessions in which they are able to use the driving range, use sports analysis equipment to work on their swing, putting, chipping and lots of other skills in Golf. This is open to all abilities and year groups.

Hip Hop dance is performed to Hip Hop music and is less technical than Ballet or Jazz. This is an after school dance club open to all students but aimed at those who do not have a huge amount of dance experience.

This audition-based after school dance club is only open to students who successfully audition in September.

Lyrical Dance combines movements from Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary and is very expressive. This is an after school dance club open to all students, but aimed at those who do not have a huge amount of dance experience.

In Maths Club, we uncover new mathematical ideas, many you wouldn’t see until University, and use them to solve problems from Cryptography…. to the Fundamental Theory of Physics. We also practice UKMT Team Maths Challenges, with the hope of putting together a team for national competitions.

Students in Year 7 are practicing spelling French and Spanish words to compete in the regional finals in January. If they get through, they will be in the nationals and will be in the race to win an all-expenses paid trip to France or Spain!

Multi-Gym Club gives students the opportunity before and after-school to come and use the fitness equipment. This is a supervised session where students can do cardiovascular, strength and weight training using the specialised gym equipment.

Netball Club runs once a week from September to Easter. It is an opportunity for students who enjoy netball within their PE lessons to develop their playing skills and knowledge of the rules further through playing and umpiring. Premier League Kicks is an afterschool club that is run by Norwich City CSF. CSF coaches come into school to deliver football and multi-sports to all year groups. Students who regularly attend have been awarded with match tickets to watch Norwich City play at Carrow Road.

Open to all year groups, singing club meets to have fun while (hopefully!) singing in harmony together. Different styles and genres are learnt and opportunities to perform, as and when they arise.

I’m Alice and I have been a dance captain for tap for three years now after learning tap for 16 years myself. The aim for my class is to teach students the technique and precision behind the style and it’s not just the case of putting on your shoes and stamping your feet, it takes time and practice to learn this style of dance. We have a range of abilities within the class from beginners to dances with up to 8 years’ experience, so I adapt the class to various abilities so everyone can be involved. Our aim as the tap team is to perform in summer concert and other shows within the academic year and hopefully in the future, we will be able to enter competitions with a confident team of tappers. In class we start with a 10-minute warm up (as tap is a lot of strain on the muscles as it involves a lot of bouncing in the legs and knees!) and then we move onto learning individual steps and sequences to then put them together to form a dance. I love being dance captain for tap as I appreciate it takes a while to learn and get the hang of!

Tap dance is a percussive style of dance where the dancer created beats with their feet. This is an after school dance club open to all students but aimed at those who already have experience in Tap Dance. Tap shoes are required.
